Music - what I believe it should be like!

‘Tu Hi Meri, Meri teri. Teri meri’ to ‘D.K Bose’ is music of today’s modern India. I am just dancing to the tunes. I have stopped listening to any numbers now. I remember my mother telling me that our todays songs are very pointless and like a dog’s bark. We are a generation who have ruined The Hanuman Chalisa to the national Anthem and still act like we are very innocent.

Yes we are just making music, was my response. My mother says that even if she likes the songs from our time they are not remembered for long, which is correct. How many songs from the last five movies do you remember?

NONE!!

The transformation is what we have grown up with and so for us it will not be a problem but for them it will be. Does every musician need to know the basics and the history of music or is it the talent that matters? I wrote a song recently and realized, for a song to be awesome it has to have great lyrics and nothing else. Lyrics are what make a song. Music sometimes break it. I know why KK is famous. It’s because he sings songs that have amazing lyrics and so he is killing it.

I didn’t realize this until recently when I sat down to write my own song. Lyrics are important because they hold the song. If there were no lyrics then what would a song be. Not that I say no any experimental stuff but I say no to songs which don’t convey meaning. And this is just my Point Of View.
Someone said we should not take major decisions when we are Sad, hungry, angry. Lazy, tired. And I agree to that man. They only lead to songs which will talk about sadness or laziness or food or ferocious stuff.

We should have a clear frame in the mind so that we know where to start from.

I have mine figured. What about you guys?
